“Two specific events taught me the importance of informed consent for medical treatments during my time at the University of Minnesota. The first was my cousin’s son severe vaccine reaction at 18 months, and the second was my classmate’s son severe reaction at 2 months. Both were directly after receiving vaccinations at their well baby visits, and both were life altering–creating the need for life-long advanced care. These events not only altered the lives of these children, but also the family unit.”
